A Clarence shot deflected off a Fairport defender at the point of attack, bounced off the far post and went in, giving Clarence a 1-0 overtime win in the Class AA State Quarterfinals Saturday afternoon at Spencerport High School. Clarence controlled play much of the second half and overtime, but Kyle Metcalfe made every save without breaking much of a sweat. His toughest save may have been off the head of a teammate early in the second half. Faiports best chance to win came in the first couple of minutes, but a cracked 20-yard shot by Brendan Saylor was handled by Clarence keeper Hunter Hein. Scott Berardi hit the shot that resulted in the game winning goal. The game ended with just 1:36 remaining in the first OT.
