State lawmakers are putting synthetic turfs to the test. Legislation is being introduced to stop the installation of synthetic turf until testing can be done to deem them safe for schools and playgrounds.
Assemblyman David Koon is one of several lawmakers pushing for a bill that would place a six-month moratorium on synthetic turfs. In the
"It's not just inhaling it in, but your hands are down on it all the time and a lot of these things can be absorbed right through the skin," says Koon.
However, Koon stresses this is just a test. He says there's a possibility they could find nothing wrong with the synthetic turfs which would ultimately lift the moratorium.
