dem-donkey2007-11-07-1194474166.jpgDavid Dunning is taking it easy at home Wednesday after months of hard work campaigning for the Chili Town Supervisor seat. It paid off Tuesday night, Democrat Dunning overwhelmingly beat out Republican incumbent Tracy Logel, who has been in office since 2004.

"It was a very humbling experience, was very pleased somewhat surprised with the outcome the way it was," said David Dunning, (D) Chili Town Supervisor-Elect.

And in Fairport, we found Democrat Jason Koon at work at PAETEC Communications one day after unseating Republican David Bonacchi for the East Rochester Mayoral seat.

"It was a shock to me, I knew it was going to be close, tough race and when we got the results I was just amazed," said Jason Koon, (D) East Rochester Mayor-Elect.

There was a lot on the line for local politicians Tuesday night, such as control over the County Legislature. Democrats needed to pick up three seats, but when the votes came in they gained only two. Republicans now control 15 seats. Democrats have 14.

"We do know the autonomy of the Republicans has decreased, the Democrats gained two seats it would be more difficult it seems to me for Maggie Brooks to get the kind of legislation through that she's seen over the last several years," said Curt Smith, a local political analyst.
