Hilton haunted house

One year ago today, we took you on a tour of a haunted house in Hilton where the owner poured tens of thousands of dollars into his Halloween decorations. Each year, he promises to make the displays bigger and better than the year before. 50 Peach Blossom Road has become the scariest address in Hilton, at least it is through the month of October. For the past 12 years, John Lewis' neighbors are used to hearing the sounds of Halloween blare out of his house. And if you knew how much he spent to create this trail of terror, you'd scream too.
"It took me probably a month to figure out how to design the path and how to make it creepy and get extra spots to hide in. It's challenging, but it's very rewarding when it works," said John Lewis, haunted house owner.
And it works all right. If by working you mean scaring visitors half to death. Each year, Lewis takes a month off of work to prep, place and pull this thing off. Last year, he admitted to spending upwards of $90,000 to get his front lawn to look like this. But when asked how much more he spent this year, he says mums the word or was it mom?
“Just don't ask me about money, please, my wife will kill me,” said Lewis.
Despite the threat to his life, Lewis added scarier rooms, scarier details and even scarier monsters. And he continues to charge the thousands of visitors who come through these hellish halls absolutely nothing.
"It never gets old, it's different every year, it's changed every year," said Lewis.
Maybe the family's payment is in the form of fright.
"It's an adrenaline rush just to see all that work you put into it and then scaring them and the chain saw, people think it's a riot, around the corner putting someone in the corner all petrified it's amazing," said John Lewis, his son.
2,000 people have walked through the Lewis Haunted House this month. He expects at least 500 more Wednesday night. Wednesday is the last night to visit the house before Lewis takes it down and he's already planning for next year.
