Indiana-University2007-10-30-1193767443.jpgIndiana assistant basketball coach Rob Senderoff announced his resignation Tuesday in the wake of reports he was involved in improper telephone calls to recruits.

"Rob Senderoff has decided it is in his and Indiana University's best interests that he voluntarily resign from the University," the school said in a statement. "His resignation is effective immediately."

The Indianapolis Star obtained the Ice Miller investigation into possible violations that head coach Kelvin Sampson and Senderoff participated in impermissible three-way phone calls during a one-year span when Sampson was under sanctions from the NCAA.

Those penalties were from when Sampson was the head coach at Oklahoma.

Senderoff was named assistant men's basketball coach at Indiana on May 1, 2006. Prior to coming to IU, Senderoff spent four years as an assistant coach with Kent State, where he helped the Golden Flashes to four-straight 20-win seasons and four consecutive postseason appearances, including the 2006 NCAA Tournament.
