PAETEC and its employees are seeing green.
”Everyone can save some money, and they can really make an impact on the energy usage,” said Arunas Chesonis, CEO of PAETEC.
The business communications company launched a new initiative Friday. PAETEC employees will now be looking for ways to improve the environment around them.
“We've purchased five compact fluorescent light bulbs for every single employee,” Chesonis said.
And more than a hundred employees have volunteered to join green teams to make sure the project lasts a long time.
“We're showing the whole employee base that this is what we're doing as a company and that we also need to take individual responsibility for the environment,” said Fran Palma, an employee.
“Some volunteers are working on large capital projects,” Chesonis said, “so (they’re) worrying about energy efficient data centers and switch sites and using alternate energy sources.”
The project is going into effect at all of PAETEC’S locations across the country. Locally, the company is just getting started. PAETEC has big plans for its new headquarters in Downtown Rochester.
“Right now we're in the early stages of design just trying to figure out what the shape is going to be and what departments are going to be on different floors,” Chesonis said, “but we're absolutely going to adopt all the green technology that we can.”
