Space Shuttle Discovery lifts off from Florida

shuttlelaunch2007-10-23-1193157550.jpgThe Space Shuttle Discovery is on its way to the International Space Station. The commander of this historic mission is Rochester's own Pam Melroy.


The Shuttle blasted off on schedule this morning at 11:38 as the weather was not a factor in the decision to launch.

Earlier concerns about ice on the shuttle's external tank were also ruled out as an issue in preventing the launch.
