A SUNY Geneseo student is dead after a hit and run early Saturday morning.Kaitlin Charity, 20, was a junior from East Islip, Long Island, and in the pre-dawn darkness, she was killed on a stretch of Route 390 in Livingston County, under circumstances which police are still trying to piece together.
Police say at 6:30 Saturday morning, a New York State Trooper pulled the coed's car over and issued her a speeding ticket while she was northbound near Groveland. At the conclusion of that traffic stop, another car sped by, which the trooper left to pursue. It is believed that Kaitlin Charity left her car, possibly to relieve herself, and then at some point --was hit by another vehicle, which then failed to stop.
About an hour later, another passing motorist discovered the tragedy. Police say the woman's body suffered such severe trauma that they believe the vehicle which struck her may have been a semi truck. In any case, they’re looking for your help. If you have any information you can call the Livingston County Sheriffs Office at (585) 243-7100.
