The Fairport school district confirms for News 8 a student at Northside elementary school in Fairport has become infected with what's known as the super bug.

MRSA is a staph infection that does not respond to anti-biotics. It's spread by skin to skin contact.  There is great concern nationwide because a student in Virginia recently died from the infection and many schools have been closed.

A Fairport school district offical says the student is responding favorably to treatment.  Parents of other kids at the school are being asked to watch their kids for signs of infections which include boils and pimples on the skin.
