P-CHARLOTTESTABBINGB2007-10-19-1192832417.jpgSecurity is heightened at a Rochester high school. A 14-year-old was able to get a knife into school and allegedly stab a fellow student.

The victim was a 10th grade male student who was stabbed in the shoulder. The apparent motive here, he declined to go out with the 9th grade girl who then stabbed him with a bread knife.

It happened during lunch period at Charlotte High School. The school does have security measures in place.  Students are randomly scanned with a walk-through and hand held metal detectors. However, that failed to work today as this 9th grade girl was allegedly able to get the knife in. School officials believe she brought it from home.

"The scanning is basically used as a deterrent.  It's actually quite difficult to attempt to scan all kids," says interim superintendent Dr. William Cala.

But, that is exactly what they plan to do at Charlotte High School. Every student will be scanned, as Dr. Cala put it, for the foreseeable future.

The victim was taken to Strong Hospital.  He is expected to be okay.  The 14-year-old girl was taken into police custody.
