Kristy Drake is one of many voices in the Canandaigua Academy Mixed Chorus, but she stands out anyway. Not just because of her talent, or her love of music, but in her praise for her fellow singers. "I love to sing," says Kristy. "My favorite instrument would be my voice. It's really fun, you never know what you're going to expect when you walk into the classroom. I believe we are a very good high school choir, I really do." Kristy dreams of performing and teaching, and she's got plenty of role models. Professional musician Jennifer Gliere guides Kristy through weekly vocal lessons. "She's very energized and she knows it's okay to make mistakes and she's ready," says Jennifer. "She's a good sport when I pull her cheeks and push her belly and I'm doing something. I hope she gets to teach because I find it really rewarding and I hope she finds it the same way."

Kristy's performed at Carnegie Hall and the Eastman Theater. She's a regular in school musicals. And she performed for President Bush when he visited Canandaigua.
Kristy says, " I love to play the piano as well, but you can't play crescendos with one note on the piano like you can with your voice. It's a lot of work, but it's well worth it."
