Mayor Duffy halts hiring

Rochester police have put in a lot of overtime hours cracking down on crime in the city. But all those extra hours have put the citys finances in a pinch, prompting Mayor Bob Duffy to enact a hiring freeze. The freeze pertains to all open jobs that are not related to health and safety. Travel and discretionary spending has also been halted. Additionally, all city contracts will come under review.
