National Fire Prevention week begins Sunday. That means locally, residents had a chance to see inside their fire stations while learning about fire safety as well. All three fire stations in Brighton held open house events Sunday afternoon. The annual event features fire station and fire truck tours as well as demonstrations. The open house also allows the community to meet their local fire fighters and introduce children to what a firefighter will look like in their home in an actual emergency.
"We have a couple different ways we do that, meet the firefighters, get them dressed up, could be scary, so opportunity to do that with the kids,” said Aaron Hiller, the Battalion Chief of the Brighton Fire Department.
Open houses around Monroe County will be hosted for the next three weeks. Check with your local firehouse for dates and times.
