Homicide on Rochester's North Side

CLIFFORDAVESHOOTINGA2007-10-05-1191598893.jpgA Rochester man is the latest homicide victim in the city of Rochester.

James Slater, 49, was shot on Barons Street around 9 o'clock Thursday night.

When police arrived, they located Slater lying in the street.  He was taken to Strong Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police say the investigation showed Slater was walking down the street when an unknown suspect shot him.

Late Thursday, officers were going door to door looking for witnesses.

No arrests have been made.

This is Rochester's 41 homicide of the year, ahead of last year's pace.  At this same time in 2006 there were 38 homicides in the city.
