driverslicenses2007-10-02-1191365503.jpgGovernor Eliot Spitzer's Executive Order waving a requirement for applicants for NYS Driver's Licenses to produce a valid Social Security number continues to spark a storm of controversy.

While Conservative Republicans continue to insist it makes it easier for illegal aliens to obtain drivers license and poses a security risk, Spitzer is just as staunch in his insistence that encouraging illegals to obtain licenses will make roads safer, and provide law enforcement with another essential tool to track their whereabouts.

Both sides engaged in a war of words on two different fronts today.
