No NFL coach in his right mind would concede a starting job after one performance, it just doesn't happen. But Trent Edwards made a strong case that he should be the man on Sunday. But one game does not make a starter...does not send JP Losman to the curb...not yet.
Edwards was calm, never jittery, and it paid off...leading the Bills first touchdown drive in the third quarter. He took what was there for him. Nothing too aggressive, just smart football that ultimately led to a Marshawn Lynch touchdown.
The Bills coaching staff demonstrated a load of confidence in the Stanford rookie with the play action on 4th and goal from the one and the Bills would seal the deal when Terrence McGee picked off Chad Pennington, who did his part to help the Bills by playing awful. The Bills earned their first win, and inherited a quarterback controversy.
JP Losman will test his knee Tuesday and Wednesday. He is not being ruled out for Monday night's home game with the 4-0 Cowboys, but for him to play in that game, he would need a full week of practice beginning Wednesday morning.
