The Shuttle Discovery is all set to go and so is local astronaut Pam Melroy.
NASA completed the careful procedure of moving the shuttle to the launch pad Sunday. It took about six hours to complete the three-and-a-half-mile journey from the hanger.
Melroy and her crew will launch into space on October 23rd. The crew will deliver and install another part of the international space station.
Melroy is only the second woman ever to command a shuttle mission.
In May 2007, Melroy's former high school classmate and News 8 Now anchor Maureen McGuire traveled to Houston, Texas, to catch up with Melroy before training for this flight began in earnest. To read our report from the Johnson Space Center, click here .
