MEATRECALLA2007-10-01-1191254757.jpgAt least 25 people in 8 states have now become sick because of beef contaminated with e-coli.

Topps meat company has voluntarily recalled 21.7 million pounds of frozen beef patties that could possibly be contaminated.  The voluntarily recall includes patties produced between September 25, 2006 and September 25, 2007.

New York is one of the 8 states affected by the recall. Topps is working with government officials to identify the source of contamination.

The packages in question are both from the Topps brand, spelled with two Ps, and have "sell by" dates of June 22nd and July 23rd. Both types are marked "keep frozen." If you have any of the ground beef hamburgers in question, you can return them where you bought them for a full refund.
