Bills Beaten, Battered By Pats

First series of the game, J.P. Losman took an apparent cheap shot by Vince Wilfork and sprained his knee. Early in the second quarter, Paul Posluszny broke his left arm when it got between Kiwaukee Thomas helmet and a tackle. Just another game in a season of... something not too good. Tom Brady completed 23-of-29 passes for 311 yards and four touchdowns as New England crushed Buffalo, 38-7, at Gillette Stadium. Randy Moss caught five balls for 115 yards and a pair of touchdowns for the Patriots (3-0), who have won six consecutive regular-season games dating back to last December. Moss became the first player in NFL history to gain 100 yards receiving in each of his first three games with a new team. "Theres a lot of things (Moss) can still work on," said Patriots head coach Bill Belichick. "He hasnt had that much time in the offense, but his production has been good. Tom 1/8Brady3/8 has been able to find him when hes been open and Randy has been able to convert." Laurence Maroney carried 19 times for 103 yards and Sammy Morris added 46 yards on 12 carries and a touchdown. Jabar Gaffney and Ben Watson also picked up a touchdown reception each. Trent Edwards passed for 97 yards and a pick on 10-of-20 passing for the Bills (0-3), who have dropped their last five regular-season contests. Marshawn Lynch carried 20 times for 74 yards and the Bills lone score. Losman completed his only pass before leaving during the first series of the game with a Grade 1 sprain of his left knee. "J.P. has a strain and it is pretty severe," said Bills head coach Dick Jauron. "I think that (head athletic trainer) Bud (Carpenter) said it is a grade one, so that is a couple of weeks probably." Poslusznys situation is worse. His injury is officially a broken forearm. The Bills havent officially set an expected recovery length, but its the same injury that ended cornerback Jason Websters season after week one. The Patriots have won eight in a row and 13 of 14 over the Bills. After the Pats defense forced Losman to fumble and then forced his exit on Buffalos opening drive, New England scored on its first possession when Stephen Gostkowski nailed a 24-yard field goal. Buffalo recovered to go 80 yards in 12 plays, ending when Lynch scampered in from eight yards out to give the visitors a 7-3 lead. Midway through the second, the Pats defense pinned the Bills in the shadow of their own goal line. On their ensuing offensive series Brady found Watson for an eight-yard score which put New England up 10-7 with a little over five minutes to play in the half. The Bills failed on their following series, and on the resulting punt, Wes Welker broke up the middle to the Buffalo 48-yard-line. Aided by Maroneys 19-yard run and Kyle Bradys 20-yard reception, the Pats took a 17-7 lead on Moss three-yard TD catch with 1:17 to play and held that 10-point edge to halftime. Gaffneys four-yard catch for a score boosted the Pats lead to 24-7 with 6:22 to go in the third, and Morris added a four-yard touchdown run on the next possession for a 31-7 advantage. Brady and Moss teamed up to make it 38-7 early in the fourth on a 45-yard strike down the right side, and the Patriots maintained that margin until the end.
