P-MCCCEREMONY2007-09-11-1189544232.jpgMemorials are taking place across our area today to remember the victims of 9-11. At Monroe Community College there was a somber ceremony as students honored those lost.

"We all know someone or have had our lives touched by those people - people that have something inside them that enables them to be more, to do more."

After a moment of silence at 8:45 when the first plane struck the Word Trade Center...they laid flowers to remember the victims in New York City, Washington and Pennsylvania.

"The events of September 11th, 2001, left a profound impact on our nation and our community - it made us all pause and reflect," says Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks.

MCC today awarded its first scholarship dedicated to the memories of those first responders who lost their life on 9/11.

Ceceila O'Hanlon is the first recipient of the scholarship, which supports students enrolled in paramedic education, emergency medical training and fire protection technology programs at MCC.
