US-Open2007-09-05-1189007396.jpgThe marquee men's match of the 2007 U.S. Open will occur Wednesday night when reigning three-time champion Roger Federer takes on former titlist Andy Roddick at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

The top-seeded/world No. 1 Federer is a laughable 13-1 lifetime against the fifth-seeded Roddick, including a victory in last year's finale here in Flushing. The super Swiss has won their last nine meetings, with the American's lone victory coming four years ago in Montreal.

Federer is 5-0 in their Grand Slam matchups, including a semifinal victory at the Australian Open back in January.

The amazing Federer owns 11 career major titles and has reached 13 Grand Slam finals, while the former No. 1 Roddick's lone major championship came here four years ago, in the first of his four Grand Slam finals. The American lost to the Swiss in a pair of Wimbledon title bouts.

The Federer-Roddick winner will meet Wednesday's Nikolay Davydenko-Tommy Haas victor in the semifinals.

The other quarterfinals will be staged here on Thursday, when third-seeded Serbian Novak Djokovic takes on 17th-seeded Spaniard Carlos Moya and 15th- seeded Spaniard David Ferrer encounters 20th-seeded Argentine Juan Ignacio Chela. The gritty Ferrer upset second-seeded Rafael Nadal here on Tuesday night, with the match actually coming to its conclusion on Wednesday morning.
