3 special committee probes that will focus on alleged questionable or illegal activities by Governor Eliot Spitzer are expected to be authorized by State Senate Majority Leader Joe Bruno.
According to the New York Post, one of the probes by the Investigations Committee will focus on the Trooper-gate scandal. Another by the Elections Committee will look at the multi-million dollar loans given to the Governor in his 1994 and 1998 campaigns by his father Bernard Spitzer.
The third probe by the Racing and Wagering Committee will see if there are any ties between the Governor and his aides and the hiring of the law firm Getnick and Getnick to represent the New York Racing Association.
The three committees, according to the Post today, would be authorized to use subpoena power in order to obtain needed testimony.
