RPD investigates shooting on Monroe Avenue

A busy stretch of Monroe Avenue broke out in gun fire early Monday morning. It happened around 2:45am near Cornell street. Police say two groups of people began shooting at each other for an unknown reason. Officers then located two people running from the scene. Both suspects were caught. One was armed with a small handgun. Also, one person has been taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the head. His injuries are not considered life threatening. At this time, the names of the suspects and the victim have not been released.
