It was one year ago today, Joseph Longobardo was shot in the leg while searching for then-fugitive Ralph "Bucky" Phillips in Chautauqua County.  He died four days later.  Another trooper was also shot.

The memorial service was held in Fredonia Friday afternoon.

Longobardo was part of the state police mobile response team, dispatched to find Phillips who had previously shot another officer near Elmira.

Phillips is behind bars, after his conviction in connection with all three shootings.
