Closing arguments in Santiago trial

Closing arguments wrapped up today in the case of a Rochester mother accused of smothering her 23-month-old toddler.

Jessica Santiago is facing second degree murder charges after her son, Lashawn Dunbar, was found dead in their Weld Street apartment in May 2006.

According to court documents, Santiago originally denied knowing how Lashawn died, but later allegedly admitted to suffocating him.

Santiago could spend 25-years to life in prison if convicted. The jury may return a verdict on Tuesday.
