“Mr. Martin had been shot once in the chest. He told us that three male blacks wearing masks apparently forced themselves into the house,” said Sgt. Carlos Garcia.
Police say that Martin's wife, 34-year old Ollizet Collier, jumped out a second story window and ran to a neighbor's house for help. Police believe drugs were the motive.
“Upon further investigation we were able to ascertain that there was a quantity of marijuana inside the house as well as a large amount of cash,” said Garcia.
One woman who asked not to be identified says she's concerned about the violence. “Of course I'm worried. I'm a mother, I have four kids. That worries me especially being so close to me.” But, police want residents to know this was not a random home invasion. That's little consolation to longtime resident Allen Russell. “Well targeted or random its not right. I just had an alarm system put in my home because of so much stuff going down,” said Russell.
Martin was being treated at Strong Memorial Hospital for a non-life threatening wound. Collier was treated and released. If you have any information please call the Rochester police.
