The Hooters restaurant chain will now have to fork over thousands to a Penfield woman who accused the former employer for discrimination.
Today the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission ordered Hooters to pay 31-year-old Melissa Vicari $75,000. Vicari filed the lawsuit last year.
The former waitress says after she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis she was demoted to a hostess position. She claims Hooters, which was located on Jefferson Road in Henrietta, ignored her requests for shorter shifts despite receiving medical clearance from her doctor. Vicari says soon after she was fired. She had worked there for 8 years.
