Governor Eliot Spitzer is working on a plan to help the working poor.
Spitzer says he'll create an economic security cabinet to focus on the needs of working families by bringing 17 state agencies together.
The cabinet will provide ways to improve job opportunities, training and education for families to move from welfare to the work force.
Spitzer says, "We need to train the next generation of jobs that are here...we need to...all the workforce dollars we put into the system...we need to make sure you have the supply of workers that you want."
For a while, advocates for the poor have complained the NY government hasn't done much to lend a hand to the working poor.
