Ripken named sports envoy

A new role for new Hall of Famer Cal Ripken. Monday, the State Department named the baseball great as a special sports envoy.
The role will take the former Baltimore Oriole and Rochester Red Wing overseas to help teach the game and bridge cultural gaps in the process. His first stop will be
"I think there is a magic in sport and you are appealing to them in a different way. And through baseball, a new sport, through sport in general, that usually, you're usually received with open arms," says Ripken.
Ripken is the second person to be named to the position. Five-time world figure skating champ Michelle Kwan was the first, in 2006.
