WALKFORBLINDNESSB2007-08-11-1186890133.jpgIt's proof of a mother's love for her children. A mother spreads the word about combating blindness across the state, not by car, but on foot.

JoAnn Rodgers has been walking for 73 miles on the Erie Canal Trailway from Middleport, New York to Palmyra. She walks in honor of her son who is legally blind and her daughter who was saved from irreversible glaucoma. Rodgers made the journey to raise money and awareness about blindness. So far, Rodgers has helped raise over $10,000.

"My son and my daughter have their eyesight because of Lyons and I wanted to give back to our community, give back to Lyons for what they had done for our children," said JoAnn Rodgers, a member for Walk for Sight.

Lyons Clubs of New York have raised more than $950,000 for the Walk for Sight campaign.
