After being seriously wounded while serving in Iraq, a local soldier is back home. Friends and family gave a big welcome to Army Specialist Mike Vogel at the Rochester International Airport Thursday night. Vogel broke his back when his vehicle was hit by an IED.

He graduated from Rush Henrietta High School in 2002 and was stationed in Germany for a year and a half before shipping out to Iraq.
Vogel was overwhelmed at the welcoming Thursday night, "definitely shocked, I was not expecting this at all."
Vogel credits body armor for saving his life.
