fairport_singer2007-08-07-1186527755.jpgMemorials of all kinds continue to pour in for the five Fairport High School girls killed in June in a car crash. In a story you'll only see on 8, News 8's Elizabeth Harness caught up with a young man who is putting the memories of his five friends to music.

For those who attended the funerals of Hannah Congdon, Bailey Goodman, Meredith Mcclure, Katie Shirley and Sara Monnat...the songs of Marcus Merriman should ring a bell. The Fairport High grad was close friends with all of the girls and he sang a song at each of their funerals.

Merriman's song--called simply "Graduation Song" was intended for Fairport High's graduation ceremonies...but...shortly after the accident, students began playing the recording on angel hill as they mourned the loss of the five girls. Now, Marcus is putting his song--plus two other singles on a CD for the entire community.

“I was really honored to be able to do it and I'm glad I took advantage of the opportunity because it feels great to give back to something like that,” says Marcus.

The CD is intended not only as a memorial to the girls...it will also include information as to how people can donate to various charities in their memory.

Coming up tonight at eleven, we'll tell you more about the other songs Marcus will be recording, why he chose the songs and how you will be able to get a hold of the CD.
