Federal funds for Erie Canal restoration

Another step forward to restore the Erie Canal in downtown Rochester.
The House approved a bill that would allow Rochester to access up to $8 million in federal funds each year, specifically for the canal.
The city is considering a plan to re-water a section of the canal so downtown becomes a waterway destination.
This project could be pricey, there are estmates it could cost up to $200 million.
