Rochester police are investigating an attempted abduction involving a 4-year-old boy.
Witnesses say the toddler was outside playing in the backyard of his uncle's home on Pearl Street Friday when he was approached by a man.
The boy says the man told him he was going to take him back to his house.
The toddler then grabbed a banister on the home and screamed, alerting his uncle and aunt inside.
"He had his hands desperately tight so I snatched his hands away and I went to go to hit him and then I looked at my wife and she said don't do it," said Darnell Williams, the victim's uncle.
Police say they are looking for a person of interest and believe the man suffers from a mental disability.
