Some members of this small community are vexed that a level three registered sex offender is living in their neighborhood. Some have called him a menace, but they won't say it on camera.

Lawrence Taylor was convicted of raping an eight-year-old-girl and throwing her off a five story building in New York City about 20 years ago. He didn't register with police as a sex offender when he moved to Lyons from Rochester.

For that offense he went back to jail for another year.

Two months after that release he's back in jail on a trespassing charge.

"She said that he was not welcome. At first he refused to leave and we she realized that he was calling the police he did leave," said Stuart Smart who attends First Presbyterian Church in Lyons.

Police say Taylor refused to leave when the pastor of First Presbyterian Church asked him to.

"As I understand it he was not as well behaved as he should have been,” Stuart said.

But people who witnessed said he was in line for a free meal the church offers everyday to people who need it.

"They served him but they gave him a plate to go," said Cynthia Williams.

If you did something at that point in time to get kicked out then yeah, okay fine. But everybody makes mistakes we're human and you shouldn't judge me because of what I've done in the past," said Sharon Weems.

The Pastor of the church couldn’t be reached. Lawrence Taylor is do in court next week.
