For the first time in a decade the federal minimum wage is getting a boost today.
The U.S. Department of Labor contends the first stage of the wage increase will bump the current minimum wage of $5.15/hour up to $5.85/hour.
The increase will continue to rise over the next two years, eventually reaching seven-dollars-and-25-cents by July 2009.
