Rochester could have a new charter school next year.

The state Education Department tells News 8 it has recieved an application for a new school called the Rochester Academy.  Contrary to reports, there is nothing in the application stipulating that the school will be for girls only.

If accepted, the school would serve kids in grades 7 through 9.  It would open in the fall of 2008.

There are currently 4 charter schools in Rochester.
