With spring in full effect there is no better time than to pack up those winter boots and oversized wool parkas and step out with a new look. This winter we experienced dark palettes and snug silhouettes. Quite the opposite is in store for your spring wardrobe. One local expert says that spring fashion will be about showcasing the finer fabrics and silhouettes that Italy has to offer.
Wally Piccone of Omero’s Clothing says that this spring you’ll want to experiment with bright colors, slim silhouettes and creative fabrics.
“Dressing for the Spring/Summer time is much different Fall/Winter,” says Piccone. “It’s a huge transition in wardrobe and usually involves some pretty confident prints, colors and designs and silhouettes,” he says.
Piccone admits that Designers like to shock consumers with eccentric fashion forecast. He says that following a runway trend is foolish and that a good tailor will be able to refine a certain look for his/her customer.
He suggests they key pieces for the upcoming season:
- Navy & grays will remain “Power” colors
- Fabric creativity like blending silk with cotton, linen, wool and cashmere is a must
- Suits and jackets are slimmer and shorter
- Trousers are flat front and cuffed
- Un-lined jackets add sophistication to casual outfits
- Tan and brown belts and shoes go well with “Power” navy and gray suits
“Most people forgo the tailor because they think they can create their own runway looks,” says Piccone. “But the advantage a good tailor is that he/she will be able to customize you a look that focuses on the right trends,” he says.
Some more luxurious spring must haves include linen/silk suits, jackets andshirts, pocket squares and an Emenegildo Zegna suit in Micronsphere to repel those rainy spring days.
