Ricky Schroeder - Penfield H.S.

Ricky schroeder has performed countless roles in musical dramas at school, and in community theater. It's only fitting, for someone who began fine-tuning his talent in kindergarten. "My mom sings, my dad plays the trumpet, my family's very musical," he says. "I just did it and fell in love with it and it's basically been my whole life." It's a life full of achievement. At Penfield High School, this senior is the president of the School Chorale and a section leader in the Jazz Choir as well. He leads rehearsal whenever Vocal Teacher Diane Abrahamian isn't present. "He makes the stage seem like his home and I feel like when we see Ricky perform we're watching him in his home, " she says. "That's how comfortable he is."
Ricky's dynamic presence on stage wins him accolades, again and again. He's won Stars of Tomorrow Awards from the Rochester Broadway Theater League, been selected to perform with the New York State School Music Association All-State Choirs, and earned a coveted spot in the All-Eastern Choir. Next year, he heads to New York University to study musical theather. "I couldn't imagine doing anything else with my life. I just get so euphoric and feel home when I'm on stage," he says. Schroeder's got big dreams for the Big Apple. If anyone's bound for Broadway, it's him!
