Behind The Mission

Sensational In Survival is a non-profit organization established to support patients and survivors who have been afflicted by breast cancer. By providing loving guidance, funding, care and knowledge, we help them regain their dignity and self-esteem as well as emotional and physical beauty.

Founded in 2005 by breast cancer survivor, Andrea Caruso, Sensational In Survival was created by her desire to bring a strong and triumphant face to the fight of this disease. We hope to give anyone in this battle the armor and tools to face the hurdles involved in treatment and, ultimately, recovery, while maintaining their strength and self image, which can be so brutally attacked during this time.

Our management team consists of an executive director working closely with a board of directors and officers toward our goals. Ultimately, the work will be divided among committees and teams assigned according to task necessity. Staff will need to be added at management, committee and team levels and will be decided upon by the executive director and board of directors.

Sensational In Survival was founded to meet a growing need in those diagnosed with breast cancer. Our goals include connecting service providers with those in need of help in areas such as appliance and car repair, wig and prosthesis needs, utilities and other day to day essentials. Many victims are exactly that - victims - due to a "falling through the cracks" of traditional support, making up the over 40,000 women that die from this disease each year. We intend to help bridge these cracks by creating new avenues to reach those needing assistance. We intend to provide an immediate response to financial concerns on an individual basis. Sensational In SurvivalSM organizes and produces projects such as calendars, and entertainment and social events as a means to raise the money needed to financially help those going through the breast cancer battle. And we have many more fun ideas up our sleeves!

We realize that the organization and execution of events, an internet Web site, funding research, education and prevention, and providing financial support to those afflicted is a costly endeavor. We will fund these endeavors by engaging in vigorous fundraising efforts. These efforts will include athletic events, direct fundraising dinners, products, calendars, and receipt of direct donations of money and services.

Hello - Can you help me find financial assistance for everyday living expenses. I have Stage IV [censored] cancer with metastisis in the bone, liver, lung and skull. I am currently on social security disability and receive $1732 per month. The problem is I have Medical Assistance in the State of Minnesota and have a spenddown/deductible of $1,050 PER MONTH. I have fallen behind on every bill I owe. I am currently at the library using the computer as our phone/internet/cable has been disconnected. I just keep getting farther and farther behind. It is so terribly stressfull, I feel like giving up. I had started Curves for Women to try to gain some strength and get some energy back. I am just so overwhelmed with the bills now, I stopped going and I'm just losing all hope. My sister-in-law saved us from eviction last month and paid off our car so it wouldn't get reposssed AGAIN. I feel like I am bankrupting our families. Any direction you could provide would be so appreciated!!!
