Marion Jr.-Sr. High School is staging the broadway smash, "Thoroughly Modern Millie," and it's only fitting that the lead is played by senior Cara Thomas. "This is my all time favorite show," says Cara. "Thoroughly Modern Millie is about a girl from a small town, actually in Kansas, who goes to New York City to become a star and finds true love. It's such a corny play but I absolutely love it."
Cara certainly knows what it's like to dream of a life on stage. "It's been my passion since the second grade," she says. "I was in "Annie" here, I played Mollie, and ever since then I just love being on stage."
Cara has already racked up experience in school plays, community theater, private vocal and dance lessons, and radio broadcasting. Classmates and teachers call her a workhorse, who pitches in behind the scenes on costumes and sets to bring a production to life.
Musical director Shelly Thompson says, "Sometimes the people are just into themselves and performing and she's really a team player person and just a real individual. Cara's not a diva."
Cara will attend Messiah College in Pennsylvania, where she'll study Theater and Communications. She's dreaming big, just like the character she plays on stage.
