These works of art tell a story- which is only fitting, because the artist thinks of herself as a storyteller. Greece Athena senior Jenna Hoffman is always dreaming of a new drawing, a new point of view, and a new way of looking at something ordinary."I go off in my dreamland and think of things constantly like 'oh, that would be a cool piece of artwork or that's a cool view of something'," says Jenna. "I'm just always thinking of that kind of stuff!"
For the past two years, Jenna has been singled out for her excellent work in drawing and painting. Her teachers say she's a role model for other students.
"She's very naturally gifted and that intuitiveness comes out in her work all the time," says Julia Mullane, art teacher at Greece Athena High School. "She teaches me how to teach better because of what she does.
When you're learning from a student, you know that student's pretty darn good and she is like that." Someday Jenna wants to open a store. She makes greeting cards, sculptures, and jewelry. She keeps track of all her musings in sketchbooks and diaries.
"I've often said there's that question, is there something you would save before a fire? I would always say my sketchbooks or my scrapbooks. My sketchbooks are really important to me."
Jenna hopes to study next year at RIT. She's interested in illustration. Who knows? One day you may see her work on display in her store. For this artist, the sky truly is the limit!
