Mendon 50, Sutherland 47

Sutherland had three different possessions to tie or take the lead in the last three minutes against Mendon and came up empty on all of them. The Vikings held on to win 50-47 in the opener of the Rainbow Classic at the University of Rochester. Mendon only scored four free throws in the final four-plus minutes, but it was enough thanks to excellent defense. Sutherlands final chance came after a missed free throw, down three with eight seconds to go, but the Knights did even get a shot off. Proceeds from the game benefit the Golisano Childrens Hospital.
