A longtime coach at Eastridge High School in Irondequoit is retiring after a long and successful career.
Linda Adams is retiring after 40 years as the field hockey coach. During those 4 decades, Adams won more than 400 games, 10 league championships, and 5 regional titles.
She said after her last game Thursday night that it's going to be hard to walk away - but, it's time.
"I always say that the next season starts the first second after sectionals are over," said Adams. "I know I'm not going to have a chance to work with this batch of girls that are coming up. I feel I'm going to miss something, but I think it is time to hang up my whistle."
Adams is going out on top with a victory. In her last game as coach, Eastridge beat Brighton, 1-0.
