A little more than one percent of the company's workforce in the U.S. will be lost in the cutbacks. The company will eliminate 750 jobs. About 25 percent of those will be from the Atlanta area, where Coke has its headquarters. The cuts take back gains from last year when Coca-Cola's U.S. workforce rose by 900 employees.
The cuts are also far less severe than those at Coke's rival, PepsiCo., which announced last year that it would cut nearly 9,000 jobs worldwide by 2014. Less than 2,000 of those are being cut from the U.S. workforce.
