The Catholic Family Center provides a safety net, "the people that come in here every day are doing God's work," explained Mark Wickham, of the Catholic Family Center.

Rochester's unemployment rate has ticked up over the last year, and half of children in our community are living in poverty, "there's more and more people who are out there who need help and support food, shelter, and clothing, when you lose a job, those are the basic needs that people need," explained Wickham.

The Center's Emergency Services Center provides food and clothing for people who fall upon hard times, "critical that we can help support individuals with things as simple as clothing and food to help them throughout the month," explained John-Paul Perez of the Catholic Family Center, "because they're worried about paying for their electricity, paying for their rent, paying for their car, so it's critical that we can help fill those gaps."

The center also gives people hope, "hope that they'll be able to find a job, hope that they'll have food on the table for tonight, and a roof over their head," explained Wickham, "so our people are giving hope every day."

At a time when many non-profits are getting less funding from the state and federal government the center needs people in the community to step up, "we need food, we need clothes, we need money," said Wicham. Perez added, "you're supporting your own neighborhoods, your supporting your own family, your supporting your own mothers and daughters."

They say if everyone pitches in, together we can help create the hope for a brighter future for those who need it the most. For more information on how to donate, click here.
