Bill Calls For 5% Hike On Satellite TV Bills

A bill in the state legislature is looking to dig deeper in the pockets of New York subscribers to DirecTV and DISH Network.

The Multichannel Video Programming Distributor Competition Act calls for a five percent tax on satellite TV providers, a cost that would immediately be passed to customers. The bill was introduced in February. Republican State Senator George Maziarz has vowed to kill the legislation.
