The success of the Amazing Spider-Man has catapulted it's sequel into production. And who would have thought Spiderman would take over a city like Rochester.

"Well why not? Rochester is a good town and some good architecture and old buildings and I am sure Spiderman would look really awesome climbing," said Katie Courtney

Production on The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is expected to hit the town with chase scenes a big focus.

"We are happy to accommodate them any place they think is logical and any place they can do it safely," said Mayor Tom Richards (D) Rochester, who also described the news as "cool."

The movie buzz quickly spread in downtown.

"Wow, chase scenes. So they are going to block off the streets?" asked Brad Toles, a hot dog vendor.

"I think that would be amazing seeing something like that come to Rochester," said Leonard Turner, who lives in Rochester.

Scouts came to the 'Flour City' in December.

Rochester was chosen in January, after a tour of all of Upstate New York's major cities.

"I said someone needs to teach me how to do a cartwheel. Very excited," said Norah Brown, who heads the Rochester Fingerlakes Film and Video Office.

She said it's been a huge secret to keep.

"It's what they wanted, they saw the look they wanted and that is why they are coming here," said Brown.

Governor Cuomo's office said the production will spend 10-15 days in Rochester.

It will also mean hiring a crew of 250 people and hundreds of extras. It's estimated that 3,000 hotel rooms will be needed. The Rochester Plaza hotel is pumped.

"A movie production and crew is clearly exciting for the city and it does bring a lot of people to the city. Obviously they are going to need housing, and one of the hotels, if not more than one, may see a little bit of a windfall," said Paul Kremp, General Manager at the Rochester Plaza Hotel.

Rochester hopes this puts the city on the map.

The hope is that one major film, leads to another.

It's unknown when production will happen in Rochester. The movie ie expected to be released in May 2014.

Another Rochester connection: The Amazing Spiderman 2 is also shooting on Kodak film.
