Four snowmobilers were involved in a deadly accident in St. Lawrence County Monday night. One of the survivors is from Hamlin.

It happened around eight o'clock in the town of Parishville. Police say four snowmobilers were coming home from dinner when two of them became disoriented and plunged into open water.

87-year-old Robert Whalen of Canton and 78-year-old Robert Campbell of Norwood both became submerged in the water. They were later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Campbell's 56-year-old son Daniel Campbell of Hamlin and 51-year-old David Livingston managed to avoid the open water. Campbell tried to rescue the men and fell in the water himself.

Rescue crews were able to pull the men from the water. Whalen and Robert Cambell were pronounced dead at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital.
