Local Attorney Nominated For Federal Judge

Updated: March 5, 2013
Senator Charles Schumer has nominated a lawyer for federal judge who, if elected, would become the first woman to serve in the western New York district.

Elizabeth Wolford has been a lawyer in the Rochester area for the past 20 years. Schumer says he chose her for her "even-handedness, temperament, and demonstrated leadership skills." Wolford is a graduate of the Fairport Central School District and a partner with the Wolford Law Firm LLP. Her confirmation would allow her to join longtime Monroe County Court judge Frank Geraci, who was recently recommended and confirmed for federal judge in the western New York district.

Schumer says he expects the process to take between four and five months.
